At A knitters World we place great emphasis on sustainability.
All our bands, business cards and A5 cards are made from recycled material.
Our mohair is CSM certified (Certified Sustainable Mohair), which means that everything from how the mohair goat is treated, lives and is cared for to how the people who look after them are doing and receive their wages, etc., is continually monitored. This means you can buy our mohair without guilt and thereby support Africa's mohair goats and their herders. They ensure the goats are well cared for and that the people receive their wages and have proper working conditions.
In addition, we have no synthetic fibers in our yarn except for our Alpaca sock yarn. This applies not only to synthetic fibers but also to superwash-treated yarn.
For dyeing we use citric acid, which is usable in a normal kitchen, and we recycle as much water as we can in production.
Yarn leftovers from knitting for the shop are given to a local knitter who knits for the homeless.
